SEC 1 Player Introduction & Biography

Anil Kumble, affectionately known as 'Jumbo' for his rapid pace and stinging bounce off the pitch, is India's greatest match-winning bowler and the fourth-highest wicket-taker in Test history with 619 wickets. Renowned for unyielding determination, stamina, and fierce competitive pride, Kumble bowled India to victories at home and across the globe.

The Perfect 10 & The Broken Jaw Heroics

In February 1999 at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, Kumble achieved sporting immortality by claiming all 10 wickets in an innings (10 for 74) against Pakistan—only the second bowler in Test history after Jim Laker to achieve the feat. In 2002 at Antigua, after suffering a fractured jaw from a bouncer, Kumble emerged with his face bandaged to bowl 14 consecutive overs and dismiss Brian Lara.
